As the rest of this sleepy little town settles in
for a long winter's nap,
the world also sleeps,
unaware of the midnight happenings
within the guitar covered walls of Stillwater Music.
The foursome gathers ~ dims the lights ~ & locks the door
to dissuade the occasional passer-by
from being helplessly lured in.
Something has been brewing like the primordial stew
from which each & every one of our foremothers emerged
a billion years ago.
Like the stars that swirled & tumbled about the infant universe,
she drops lyrics down from the sky.
They fall over the threads of a loosely woven riff
that had been tossed out like a delicious bit of gossip.
Just then ~ the rhythm ~ the heartbeat ~ returns
as if reviving the spirit of a long extinct ancestor.
They were never really that far away.
They were merely hanging in the air,
stirring within the vibrations of those thick ~ low ~ notes.
The SOUL has arrived.
